A New Product Category for Life Science

b.well Connected Health came to Monico with a new product initiative: a white-label app that life science and pharmaceutical companies could brand and deploy directly to their patients. The vision was ambitious: Give drug companies a way to educate their users, reduce support burden, and gather real-world clinical data, all within a single connected product.

The goal wasn't just a well-designed app. It was a product compelling enough to sell to major pharmaceutical companies and raise serious capital around. b.well needed Monico to take the concept from zero to a fully designed, pitch-ready product.

Making complex drug information feel simple

Life science companies carry enormous amounts of drug data: dosing, side effects, contraindications, FAQs. Monico mapped how all of it should be structured and surfaced inside the app, turning dense clinical information into a clear, navigable experience any patient could use. The result is a content architecture any life science partner can populate with their own drug data without the experience breaking down.

An AI that knows the drug and knows the patient

The AI companion had to operate on two layers at once: Deep knowledge of the drug & a growing understanding of the individual patient over time. Monico designed the full conversational experience, including how the AI ingests EHR data from platforms like MyChart and Athena, how it learns about the user over time, and a curated library of suggested prompts to help patients start meaningful conversations quickly.

Turning patient interactions into clinical intelligence

Monico designed the full studies and reporting flow from enrollment and informed consent to symptom logging and progress dashboards. Drug companies gain a direct feedback loop with their patient population, with real-world response data surfaced in a reporting interface that turns individual interactions into aggregate clinical insight

Outcomes

  • Eight-figure investment secured — b.well attracted a major life science investor off the back of this design work, with the Monico-designed product serving as the primary pitch and demonstration artifact

  • 25+ drug deployments in pipeline — the investing partner carries a product line of 25+ drugs, each representing a potential white-label app deployment — setting b.well up for rapid, repeatable scale
